Editor of Macroeconomic Analyses and Trends (MAT), Ivan Nikolić, said that an increase in public sector salaries, projected by the 2020 budget, does not jeopardize the macroeconomic stability, but supports economic growth, and partly compensates the effect of unfavourable factors from the environment. "Besides, experience has taught us that private sector follows the increase in public sector salaries. Calculations show that private sector will not see higher costs and reduced competitiveness", Nikolić said at the presentation of the latest issue of MAT, referring to remarks on the budget bill, envisaging a large portion of money for the public sector salaries. - Serbia has obtained sufficient productivity reserves over the past three years, to ensure that consequently higher labour costs for the economy are not ballast that would significantly impair its price competitiveness - Nikolić said.
