Serbia's Commission for Protection of Competition (KZK) has given the green light to the Czech company Avia Prime for the acquisition of JAT Tehnika, the KZK announced yesterday. Avia Prime submitted a bid worth EUR 10.29 mn last year to purchase the Serbian company for the maintenance of civil aircraft. The KZK has established that Avia Prime is not operating in the Serbian MRO market, and JAT Tehnika is practically the only participant in the relevant market as its Nikola Tesla Airport base is the only servicing facility for Boeing, Airbus, and ATR large commercial aircraft. The KZK adds that JAT Tehnika is performing this activity primarily at its main base at Nikola Tesla Belgrade Airport, while line maintenance is performed in Tivat, Podgorica, and Skopje. Avia Prime has been operating in the markets of Poland and Slovenia; it deals with the maintenance of civil aircraft through the companies Linetech and Adria Tehnika, the KZK recalls.
