The value of construction works done in the Republic of Serbia in 2019 rose by 35% y-o-y, according to the latest figures issued by the National Statistics Office (RZS), the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure announced in a statement. In Q4 2019, the value of construction works grew by 56.3% at constant prices compared to Q4 2018. Therefore, the record-breaking construction activity registered in Q3 2019 (+39.9%) was exceeded. That was the highest quarterly value of construction works since 2010. The completion of large infrastructure projects and a favourable investment climate led to high construction activity rates in the past couple of years (11.4% in 2017, 13.9% in 2018, and 35% in 2019), which also increased the construction sector's share in the country's GDP from 3.2% in 2014 to over 5% in 2019, the Ministry pointed out.
