More than 45,000 companies’ accounts frozen

On the last day of 2019 in Serbia, 45,663 legal entities and entrepreneurs' bank accounts were blocked due to debts totalling RSD 241.66 bn, excluding interest, the National Bank of Serbia told Tanjug yesterday. The blocking refers to 27,205 accounts of legal entities and 17,958 of entrepreneurs. Out of the total number of debtors, 14,389 were blocked for less than 360 days, while 31,274 of them were blocked continuously for over a year. Legal entities' blocked accounts totalled RSD 231.88 bn, with RSD 175.41 bn worth of debt owed by companies with continuously blocked accounts for over 1,080 days or three years. The total amount of debt owed by blocked entrepreneurs stood at RSD 9.77 bn, with those blocked for 360-720 days accounting for RSD 2.91 bn.
