The president of the Association of Free and Independent Unions (ASNS), Ranka Savić, told Tanjug that the existence of about a million citizens of Serbia is directly or indirectly impacted by the economic consequences of the pandemic. She states that the statistics follows only those who had a fixed-term and indefinite employment contract and raises the question of what happened to those who lost temporary and occasional jobs, seasonal jobs, who were freelancers, provided for themselves by working in the gray zone or working illegally, that is, they worked seasonally in EU countries where they cannot go now. She adds that tens of thousands of our citizens worked in the EU countries, who provided their livelihood in Serbia with their salaries, and that due to the pandemic, the number of people working illegally was halved.
